The United States Department of Energy has launched a website to help connect consumers to Energy Skilled™ recognized professionals.
What is Energy Skilled™?
Energy Skilled™ professionals have undergone training, passed a certification,
or both, to demonstrate their knowledge of advanced heat pump technologies. As consumers demand more energy efficient appliances, HVACR professionals will be required
to be proficient in the installation, commissioning, and servicing of these advanced technologies.

Earn an Energy Skilled™ Recognized Certification from HVAC Excellence:

Professional Level Heat Pump Installer
Covers the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of a heat pump system, use of smart diagnostic and commissioning applications, airflow estimation or measurement, and duct leakage evaluation.

Professional Level Heat Pump Service
This exams covers engaging with a customer to evaluate their home for a heat pump system, understanding the importance of proper load calculation and system selection, dual fuel system best practices, and the impacts of installing a heat pump.
Note: Must have taken exam after May of 2023 when the exam was revised.
